Overview
We are seeking a Linux Administrator, for a contracting opportunity in Chesapeake, VA (place of duty is
closer to the NC border). The Linux Administrator will conduct capacity and performance analysis,
provide system configuration change, and upgrade recommendations.

Responsibilities
The Linux Administrator will increase system administrator efficiency and accuracy via the use of
automated tools and scripts; develop system administrator procedures, and conduct system
administrator training and skills assessments. The Linux Administrator will determine computer user
needs, analyze system capabilities and program techniques and controls; and, manage the daily
activities of configuration and operation of systems and perform system capacity analysis and
planning. In addition, maintain servers; create monitoring reports and logs; ensure functionality of
system links; monitor systems for acceptable performance and user accessibility; establish back-ups
and monitor system security; develop and coordinate project directions and schedules to maximize
benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organization. The Linux Administrator will review
server, workstation, and VM logs weekly; provide for IAVA compliance and reporting; update anti-virus
software on all servers, workstations and VMs; conduct vulnerability scans on all servers, workstations
and VMs; perform information assurance efforts for specified GSAL database systems; generate
subsystem initial site security plans; perform information assurance software patching; support
accreditation and monitor and review logs.

Qualifications
The Linux Administrator must have knowledge of RHEL with large storage array (NAS/SAN/3PAR) type
architecture in regard to RedHat Linux (FSTAB, NFS, etc.); excellent written and verbal communication
skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a
variety of audiences; understanding of virtual machines, and experience in writing, editing and
reviewing LINUX/UNIX Shell scripts. Two plus (2+) years Unix/Linux experience and two plus (2+)
years of Virtual Machine deployment and administration also required. CompTIA Security+ (SYO-301)
and DoD 8570.1 Workplace Improvement Plan IAT Level II compliant certifications required. Cisco
skills are a plus. A Bachelor’s degree in IT related field or 3 years additional experience is required.
Active TS/CSI/CI Poly also required. Travel is required 25%.
